My favourite fossil is an arthrodire fish called Compagopiscis croucheri. She (and we know it is a female) was named after Mr Croucher who was one of the scientists at the British Museum of Natural History who prepared the fish by getting them out of the rock. It is my favourite because it has a link with past life, past collecting history and modern science in that this was the first fish I found soft tissues in and also the first fish we put in the synchrotron scanner
